Saudi Arabia’s Leading Drilling Company Expands Operations in Oman

Saudi Arabia’s Arabian Drilling Company is making headway into international markets with its latest offshore drilling contract in Oman. This agreement, which includes the drilling of four wells, marks a significant step in the company’s initiative to extend its operations beyond domestic borders.

Details of the Contract

The contract was signed between significant industry players, namely Masirah Oil Limited and Northern Offshore Ltd, for the drilling of two confirmed wells and two optional wells. Operations are slated to commence before the conclusion of the third quarter of 2026. While Arabian Drilling has not publicly disclosed the financial specifics of the contract, it anticipates that the deal will positively impact its financial performance in 2026, bolstering its backlog and revenue prospects for the future.

Impact on Oman’s Block 50

This contract also holds promise for Oman’s Block 50, located in the Arabian Sea off the nation’s eastern coast. Masirah Oil possesses full ownership of this concession, which includes the operational Yumna oil field. Since its inception, Yumna successfully produced first oil in February 2020, and by the end of 2024, it had yielded approximately 9.07 million barrels. However, recent production figures indicate a decline, with output averaging 742 barrels per day in March 2026, a drop from 854 bpd in January.

In response to the declining production, Masirah Oil is committed to sustaining and enhancing output from the Yumna field. The company has previously outlined a three-well drilling program for the upcoming 2026 fiscal year, emphasizing the increasing importance of development drilling in maintaining field productivity.

Strategic Expansion for Arabian Drilling

For Arabian Drilling, the new contract is another milestone in its strategy to establish a broader regional presence. “As we continue to expand our regional footprint, our focus remains on delivering sustainable growth while creating long-term value for our shareholders and catering to the evolving demands of the energy sector throughout the region,” stated CEO Fahad Albani. The Oman campaign serves as an opportunity for Arabian Drilling to showcase its offshore fleet capabilities as drilling activities expand across other Gulf markets.

Overall, this new venture not only signifies Arabian Drilling’s strategic intent to diversify its portfolio but also enhances the overall dynamics of Oman’s oil production landscape.
