Launch at LEAP 2026
The laptop was unveiled at the LEAP 2026 event and represents one of the inaugural products created at Lenovo’s new manufacturing facility in Riyadh. The facility marks a promising beginning, with plans for mass production of select products expected to kick off in late 2026. This initiative aims to bolster local manufacturing capabilities while also supporting Lenovo’s broader regional and international operations.
Tareq Alangari, Lenovo’s Senior Vice President for the Middle East, Türkiye, and Africa, emphasized the significance of this achievement. He stated that the collaboration between Lenovo and ALAT is paving the way for Saudi Arabia to emerge as a global technology and manufacturing hub. Dr. Muhammad Aldawood, Acting CEO of ALAT, echoed this sentiment, highlighting how the ongoing partnership is vital in developing advanced manufacturing capabilities within the Kingdom. Over the past year, Lenovo has worked diligently to enhance its presence in Saudi Arabia, establishing its META Regional Headquarters in Riyadh. The company has ambitious plans for research and development initiatives, now spearheaded by Dr. Rabeah Alzaidy, who will oversee these crucial initiatives. Furthermore, Lenovo has formed strategic alliances with ALAT, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, and the Human Resources and Development Fund, culminating in specialized training programs for Saudi engineers.
Expanding Manufacturing Footprint
The Riyadh facility marks a pivotal addition to Lenovo’s global manufacturing and supply chain network, becoming the first site to produce the complete range of Lenovo products, which includes PCs, desktops, Motorola smartphones, and servers. During the LEAP event, Lenovo showcased its Physical AI: Robotic Inspection technology, designed to enhance inspection efficiency in industries such as oil and gas while reducing manual labor and increasing safety.
