Spanning 7,500 square meters, the facility currently houses over 650 server cabinets and boasts an initial power capacity of 4 megawatts (MW). However, future plans outline an expansion of the center’s capacity to 20 MW, with a total projected investment increasing to $300 million as the partnership evolves.

This new data center is strategically positioned to serve business clients across Turkey’s Aegean region while offering access to both national and international connectivity networks. The first phase of operational capabilities targets the increasing demand for seamless digital solutions, catering primarily to the corporate sector.

The opening ceremony, attended by notable figures such as Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu and Vodafone Türkiye CEO Engin Aksoy, marked a pivotal moment for Turkey’s technological landscape. Uraloglu referred to the facility as “a new digital asset for Türkiye,” emphasizing its capacity to strengthen local businesses through enhanced access to vital connectivity infrastructure.

The aim is to deliver a range of IT solutions, including cloud services, connectivity, and enhanced cybersecurity measures to corporations throughout the region.

This center is anticipated to substantially process over 100 petabytes of data each month, demonstrating Vodafone’s extensive technological investment and operational capability. By facilitating millions of transactions and providing support for numerous applications, it underscores Vodafone’s role as a critical player in the digital ecosystem.

Long-term Commitment to Türkiye

Vodafone has invested around ₺600 billion (approximately $12.4 billion) in Türkiye over the past two decades, confirming its commitment to the country. Today, it serves more than 25 million mobile customers, including a substantial number of small and medium-sized businesses as well as large organizations. As Vodafone continues to invest in its infrastructure and expand its services, the Izmir data center will play a key role in supporting the growing digital economy of the region.
