CENTCOM issued a statement confirming that its forces targeted three Iranian oil carriers on the same day, after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched ballistic missiles directed at two U.S. Navy warships. Remarkably, both the U.S. aircraft carrier and guided-missile destroyer successfully dodged several unprovoked Iranian strikes without inflicting any casualties on American personnel.
The CENTCOM statement elaborated, “After Iran’s unsuccessful attempts to engage our ships, we neutralized the IRGC oil carriers M/T Downy near Kharg Island and M/T Stark 1 by Jask. Additionally, we completely destroyed the unladen tanker M/T Kylo in the Gulf of Oman, striking it at critical points to incapacitate it after the crew was instructed to evacuate.”

According to CENTCOM, the three targeted Iranian crude oil vessels are integral to a vast shadow network that finances the IRGC and its affiliates in the region. Notably, Iran lacks effective defenses against these measures. “Let it be clear to the IRGC: If you fire at our ships, we will impose a heavier economic toll by targeting yours,” stated Adm.
