Friendly Soul Shines in the Qatar Prix Vermeille
In one of the day’s main events, Friendly Soul, a five-year-old mare trained by John & Thady Gosden, captured her second Gr.1 title by triumphing in the Qatar Prix Vermeille, a race dedicated to fillies and mares aged three and older. With top jockey James Doyle aboard and owned by George Strawbridge, Friendly Soul displayed remarkable stamina, maintaining the lead before fending off competitors in the final moments. Previous form included a runner-up finish at the Gr.1 Qatar Nassau Stakes, but she demonstrated her class by pulling away from the field, eventually winning by three-quarters of a length, with Pink Panthera and Sunly rounding out the top three.
Erdenali Makes Mark in the Qatar Prix du Moulin de Longchamp
Erdenali, a promising three-year-old gelding, achieved a career milestone by winning the Gr.1 Qatar Prix du Moulin de Longchamp. Also trained by Francis-Henri Graffard and ridden by Mickael Barzalona, Erdenali showcased his potential after an unfortunate third-place finish earlier this season. He broke well and strategically settled in midfield before explosively advancing to secure victory, finishing ahead of Ten Bob Tony by one and a quarter lengths. This win marked his first triumph at the Gr.1 level, solidifying his status as a horse to watch.
HM Alchahine Dominates the Qatar Cup – Prix Dragon
The event also saw HM Alchahine, a six-year-old Purebred Arabian, dominating in the Gr.1 Qatar Cup – Prix Dragon. After a comfortable victory, his performance highlighted his remarkable talent. This race marked the sixth Gr.1 win of his career, proving he remains a top contender in his category. With a strong pace maintained throughout, HM Alchahine finished clearly ahead, displaying both skill and stamina under the guidance of trainer Mme Jean-Francois Bernard.
