Qatar Takes Part in the 2026 Global Coalition for Social Justice Annual Forum

Qatar is actively engaging in global discussions to promote social justice, emphasizing the need for actionable policies that reflect international commitments. Recently, the country participated in the 2026 Annual Forum of the Global Coalition for Social Justice. This essential forum focused on bridging the gap between international agreements and local implementation of social justice principles.

Qatar’s Representation at the Forum

On September 17, Doha hosted a pivotal online panel titled “From International Commitments to Implementation: Delivering Social Justice.” Qatar’s voice at this important event was represented by HE Minister of Labor Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri. His presence underscored Qatar’s dedication to translating global agreements into effective national strategies. Dr. Al Marri shared insights on the significance of systematically embedding social justice within economic policies, thereby ensuring that social equity is prioritized in development agendas.

Commitment to the Doha Political Declaration

Qatar’s commitment to social justice was formally recognized last November during the Second World Summit for Social Development, held in Doha. The conference concluded with the Doha Political Declaration—an ambitious framework aimed at crucial issues such as poverty reduction, full employment, and social inclusion. This framework, endorsed by UN General Assembly Resolution 80/5, serves as a guiding document for Qatar and its partners, aiming to establish a comprehensive framework for action in advancing social justice around the globe.

Collaboration with International Organizations

The Minister highlighted Qatar’s entry into the Global Coalition for Social Justice in November 2025 as a pivotal moment in its ongoing collaboration with the International Labor Organization (ILO). This partnership is set to advance through the third phase of a joint technical cooperation program from 2024 to 2028, focusing on fostering an inclusive labor market that considers the evolving needs of society. This engagement exemplifies Qatar’s commitment to aligning with international best practices and enhancing social outcomes through collaboration.

Emphasizing a Multifaceted Approach

Dr. Al Marri pointed out that as the world faces rapid changes—ranging from technological evolution and climate challenges to demographic transformations—social justice must become a fundamental element of economic policy. It can no longer be a secondary consideration but rather a critical factor in decision-making processes. The aim is to not only create jobs and stimulate economic growth but also to guarantee decent working conditions, equitable access to opportunities, and empower communities.

In conclusion, Qatar’s participation in the Annual Forum illustrates its commitment to promoting social justice on a global scale. By aligning national policies with global standards and fostering partnerships, Qatar seeks to ensure that social equity remains central to its development strategy. Through ongoing collaboration with the ILO and other international partners, the country aims to further its agenda of inclusive and sustainable social development, thereby positively impacting the lives of its citizens and beyond.
