Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs is set to commence registration for residents and citizens aspiring to undertake Hajj in the 2027 season. This registration period will be opened from midnight on Sunday, September 20, 2026, until October 20, 2026.
Registration Process for Hajj 2027
According to the Ministry’s statement, registration will be conducted exclusively via the official Hajj portal at hajj.gov.qa. Applicants can easily navigate the unified platform to complete their registration tasks, select approved Hajj campaigns, and review seasonal requirements, guidelines, and other relevant services. This streamlined process is designed to ensure a convenient and efficient experience for potential pilgrims.
The ministry emphasized the importance of early registration in alignment with the official Hajj preparation schedule. Early onboarding enables associations to finalize their operational and contractual arrangements, ultimately enhancing the quality and efficiency of services offered to pilgrims. Qatar’s designated quota for the 2027 Hajj season stands at 4,400 pilgrims. Following the close of registration, an electronic screening of applications will take place, with acceptance notifications dispatched via SMS to qualified candidates by late October.
Health Requirements for Registration
A crucial requirement for registration is obtaining a health fitness certificate that verifies the medical eligibility of the applicants. This mandate aligns with the standards set forth by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. Health centers in Qatar are equipped to conduct the necessary medical evaluations, and the results will be logged electronically into the department’s system. For Qatari citizens, applicants must be at least 18 years old and can include up to three companions in a single application. In contrast, residents and GCC nationals must be at least 45 years old, not have previously performed Hajj, and may invite only one companion. They must also have been residing continuously in Qatar for a minimum of 15 years. The Ministry encourages prospective pilgrims to ensure that all companions are part of the initial application to prevent delays or issues down the line.
Updated Electronic Registration System
The Ministry has enhanced the electronic registration system for the Hajj 2027 season, introducing more flexible mechanisms that allow applicants to finalize contracts and make electronic payments to approved Hajj campaigns with ease. Digital guides and informational materials outlining the registration process, campaign selection, contract signing, and payment procedures have also been made available.
To complete the contracting process, applicants will be required to make an advance payment of QAR 10,000 through the electronic platform. This amount will be credited towards the overall cost of the Hajj program, rather than being considered a registration fee. This measure aims to ensure the commitment of applicants and to facilitate the accurate operational preparations of Hajj campaigns, which may vary in cost based on the services and programs they provide.
All licensed Hajj campaigns for the 2027 season will be accessible on the electronic portal.
