Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has voiced strong opinions against what he calls a global campaign promoting gender neutrality. During a recent address, he characterized this initiative as a siege on both children and the traditional family structure, asserting that such efforts pose a significant threat. Erdogan insists that the only way to counteract this siege is by fiercely defending the concept of the family defined as comprising both a man and a woman.

Erdogan pledged to continue initiatives that safeguard families and children, despite facing backlash from various activist groups. His remarks came shortly after a controversial government operation named “My Family Is Safe,” which targeted organizations advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, as well as HIV support groups. Turkish authorities have confirmed that legal actions have been initiated against at least 162 individuals, nine associations, and 13 businesses across 15 provinces.
