Bolat reports that Türkiye-US trade hit .6 billion in 2025.

Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat announced that the trade in goods between Türkiye and the United States has surged to $38.6 billion as of 2025. During a recent event in New York, he expressed that both countries aim to enhance this figure through increased mutual investments, collaborative production efforts, and innovative initiatives.

Strengthening Trade Relations

Bolat highlighted that the U.S. stands as the second-largest market for Turkish exports and the fourth-largest source of imports for Türkiye. Moreover, he pointed out that the United States ranks second in terms of foreign direct investment flowing into Türkiye. Approximately 1 million American tourists visit Türkiye each year, further cementing the strong economic ties between the two nations. This growing trade relationship serves as a foundation for deeper economic cooperation.

At a recent conference organized by the Anatolian Lions Businessmen’s Association, Orhan Aydin, the organization’s president, articulated a vision of achieving a bilateral trade volume of $100 billion. He emphasized the need for more Turkish businesses to enter the U.S. market, attracting new American investments, fostering joint production, facilitating technology transfers, and creating more job opportunities as avenues to reach this ambitious target.

Fostering Investment Opportunities

The Trade Minister also participated in the 19th Turkish Investment Conference, hosted by the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Türkiye (DEIK) and the Turkish-American Business Council (TAIK). At this conference, he addressed topics concerning the resilience of the Turkish economy, the favorable investment landscape it offers, and its unique advantages for global institutional investors. Discussing potential avenues for cooperation, he pointed out several key sectors ripe for collaboration between Türkiye and the United States.

Bolat specifically mentioned promising areas such as renewable energy, digital technology, artificial intelligence, defense, aerospace, automotive manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices. He noted that the Turkish diaspora in the U.S. plays a vital role in strengthening Türkiye’s international business relationships, acting as a bridge for enhancing economic cooperation.

Future Prospects

With a robust framework for trade and investment in place, Türkiye and the U.S. are positioned to capitalize on their economic partnership. As both nations strive for innovative solutions and collaborative projects, the potential for growth is significant. The emphasis on sectors like technology and renewable energy aligns with global trends and presents shared opportunities for development and advancement.

In summary, the growing trade relationship reflects a broader commitment to fostering mutual economic prosperity between Türkiye and the United States. As trade volume increases, it paves the way for enhanced cooperation and stronger commercial ties, benefiting businesses and consumers alike in both countries. The vision of achieving $100 billion in bilateral trade is not only ambitious but also attainable with concerted efforts from all stakeholders involved.
