Saudi Arabia has entered the automotive arena with its first domestic car brand, CEER, unveiling two electric vehicles at the new CEER Manufacturing Complex in King Abdullah Economic City. A collaboration between the Public Investment Fund and Foxconn, CEER’s EXOBOT collection includes a sleek sedan and a compact SUV, both designed on an identical electric platform. Aiming for sustainability and local manufacturing, CEER plans to expand its lineup with five additional models by 2030, showcasing both smaller vehicles and alternative power sources.
Innovative Design and Features
The EXOBOT models exhibit a distinctive sharp profile, characterized by a forward-thrust nose and a cabin rising towards the rear. The vehicles, designed by Rob Melville, a former McLaren designer, boast a 2.4-meter windshield tilted back at 15 degrees and intricate light bars made of 32 vertical elements that symbolize Saudi Arabia’s unification. The design is further enhanced by unique Shahin Wing Doors that open upwards, providing a striking entrance akin to that of a concept car.
The dimensions of these electric vehicles are impressive; the sedan measures 5.26 meters in length, while the SUV is slightly shorter at 5.02 meters. The latter stands taller, with over 11 inches of ground clearance, making it suitable for diverse terrains. Both models feature a powerful tri-motor all-wheel-drive system capable of delivering 850 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque. The sedan reaches a speed of 100 km/h in just 2.6 seconds, whereas the SUV does so in 2.9 seconds. Notably, the vehicles can travel significant distances on a single charge, with the sedan covering up to 670 km and the SUV up to 560 km.
Advanced Technology and Comfort
CEER prioritizes comfort and performance with technologies aimed at addressing the harsh Middle Eastern climate. Their Halo Cooling technology can reduce cabin temperatures from a scorching 65°C to a comfortable 32°C within ten minutes. Moreover, the vehicles feature advanced insulation methods, including quadruple silver-coated glass and dual air conditioning units.
Inside, the cabin is equipped with a stunning 48-inch curved 8K display, complemented by a 10.4-inch control panel and an 8-inch screen for rear passengers. Steering is achieved through a yoke with steer-by-wire, making handling smooth and efficient. With features such as rear-wheel steering and adaptive air suspension, the driving experience aims to be both luxurious and intuitive. Additionally, the voice assistant supports both Arabic and English, while a companion app enables drivers to monitor battery status and control interior settings remotely.
Future of Localization and Market Release
CEER’s ambition doesn’t stop at manufacturing electric vehicles; they aim for significant localization in production. The brand targets a goal of 45 percent local content by 2034, aiming to fulfill orders swiftly within the Middle East. While the initial vehicle deliveries are set for 2027, CEER hopes to establish itself as a key player in the region’s automotive market. The flagship editions will feature premium materials like red and black Nappa leather, adding an element of luxury.
