Egypt’s Chocolate Exports Hit 1 Million by 2025, with Saudi Arabia Leading the Market

Egypt’s chocolate and cocoa product exports have seen remarkable growth in recent years, positioning the country as a significant player in the global market. With a surge in demand from international consumers, Egypt’s chocolate industry is experiencing a transformation that highlights its potential for future expansion.

Surging Export Figures

In 2025, Egypt exported approximately $251 million worth of chocolate and cocoa-based products, categorized under HS Code 180631. This notable growth, attributed to increasing external demand and greater accessibility to international markets, reflects a broader trend within the country’s food export sector. The Food Export Council reported that Egypt sent about 33,000 tonnes of these goods abroad, making it the 10th largest exporter globally with a share of 3% of total worldwide exports.

Moreover, between 2020 and 2025, exports from the chocolate and cocoa sector experienced a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 38% in value. Concurrently, the volume of exports grew at a CAGR of 17%. This impressive trajectory underscores the escalating popularity of Egyptian chocolate products on the global stage, with a value increase of 64% in 2025 compared to 2024 alone.

Top Export Destinations

Saudi Arabia emerged as the leading destination for Egypt’s chocolate products, importing goods worth approximately $87 million, which accounts for nearly 35% of total exports. The UAE followed as the second-largest market, with imports valued at $37 million, representing around 15% of total exports. Kuwait secured the third position, importing approximately $18 million, while the UK and Qatar rounded out the top five markets with figures of $15 million and $12 million, respectively.

Combined, these five nations accounted for nearly 67.3% of Egypt’s total exports in 2025, highlighting a concentrated but promising market presence. This strong performance not only showcases the appeal of Egyptian chocolate but also indicates the potential for scaling operations and reaching an even larger audience.

Future Opportunities for Growth

The growing demand for processed food products, especially in Arab countries, presents ample opportunities for Egyptian companies to further their foothold in the chocolate and cocoa market. As confidence in the sector continues to rise, manufacturers are encouraged to deepen their presence in established markets while also exploring new territories. Targeting regions with emerging appetites for chocolate and food preparations could significantly enhance export potential.

In conclusion, Egypt’s chocolate and cocoa-based food preparations are positioned for sustained growth, backed by strong export performance and favorable market conditions. This sector is not just a vital part of the country’s economy but also a canvas for future innovations and expansions. With the right strategies, Egyptian brands can capitalize on this momentum and elevate their presence globally, contributing to the dynamic landscape of international food exports.
