Israel’s Top Startups in Cybersecurity and AI

On Wednesday, LinkedIn, the largest professional networking platform with around 1.3 billion members and owned by Microsoft, revealed its list of the top startup companies in Israel. The rankings showcased a diverse array of innovative firms, predominantly those specializing in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence (AI).

Top Israeli Startups in Cybersecurity and AI

Leading the list is Oak, a cybersecurity startup that commenced operations in July 2023. It secured an impressive $60 million in seed funding from notable investors such as Greylock, Accel, and CRV. The company’s CEO, Shai Morag, has prior experience in the industry, having sold two previous ventures—Secdo to Palo Alto and Ermetic to Tenable, showcasing a strong entrepreneurial background.

DoubleAI, founded by Amnon Shashua in 2023, took the second spot. This AI-driven company focuses on replicating rare expertise to solve intricate scientific and technical challenges. Following closely in third is Wonderful, which has developed an AI operating system designed to assist large organizations in deploying AI agents and automating various tasks. Other notable companies on LinkedIn’s list include Kela, Echo, Cyera, Notch, Mate, Eon, and Port, highlighting a robust ecosystem of startups thriving in Israel’s tech landscape.

Impact of the LinkedIn List on Startups

Being featured in the top 10 of LinkedIn’s rankings acts as a significant endorsement, facilitating recruitment efforts and enhancing company reputation. Startups on this list are viewed favorably by potential employees, which can lead to reduced hiring costs. Furthermore, their inclusion strengthens credibility among major corporations and enhances their visibility on a global scale, which is essential for attracting future investments.

This selection process analyzes multiple criteria based on data from LinkedIn users, including workforce expansion, user interest, page engagement, and the company’s capability to attract talent from major tech firms like Google and Microsoft. Essentially, the list reflects how many skilled professionals have opted to transition from secure roles at established companies to join these innovative startups.

Criteria for Selection and Future Outlook

To qualify for this ranking, startups must be privately owned, employ a minimum of 30 full-time staff, be no older than seven years, and maintain headquarters in Israel. Crucially, companies that have laid off a significant portion of their workforce—10% or more—during the evaluation period were excluded from consideration.

Asaf Wiener, CEO of Mate Security, which ranks eighth on the list, expressed satisfaction with their position and emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong internal culture and connectivity among employees as the company scales. He highlighted that achieving this balance is vital to delivering value to customers, reinforcing the foundations upon which Mate is built. His comments reflect a shared sentiment among the startups on the list about the importance of sustaining organizational quality during rapid growth.

In conclusion, LinkedIn’s list serves as a pivotal resource for job seekers and investors alike. It not only showcases the top emerging companies in Israel but also highlights the critical sectors making significant advances in technology and innovation. The ongoing focus on cybersecurity and AI indicates a promising future for startups operating in these rapidly evolving fields.
