Saudi Arabia’s latest airline, Riyadh Air, has introduced its first two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and initiated ticket sales for flights to five key destinations. This significant launch precedes the airline’s commercial operations, marking a pivotal moment in its journey.

First Routes and Early Launch Dates

On June 7, Riyadh Air began selling tickets for its inaugural routes to Cairo, Dubai, Jeddah, Madrid, and Manchester. The airline accelerated the launch of its Riyadh to London service, now set for June 10, instead of the originally planned July 1. The rollout of services will commence with Jeddah on June 14, followed by Dubai on June 18, Cairo on June 25, Madrid on July 17, and Manchester on July 23. Each flight will be offered on the airline’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, which represent the beginning of a planned fleet of 72 aircraft aimed at facilitating long-term international growth.

Vision 2030: Ambitious Goals for Global Connectivity

The rollout aligns with Saudi Vision 2030—a strategic framework aiming to enhance global connectivity, diversify the economy, and solidify the Kingdom’s status as a transport and logistics center. Riyadh Air’s plans include connecting to over 100 destinations worldwide by 2030, a goal articulated by Osamah Alnuaiser, the airline’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. By the end of 2026, the airline anticipates receiving 10 of its planned aircraft, laying the groundwork for its broader ambitions.

A Robust Travel Network Focused on Demand

CEO Tony Douglas highlighted the selection of initial destinations as a strategic move driven by strong travel demand. The airline aims to bolster business and tourism between Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, turning Riyadh into a crucial global transit point. Tickets are accessible through the airline’s website, mobile app, and travel partners, emphasizing an easy booking experience for travelers.

Innovative Loyalty Program and Passenger Experience

In addition to its operational launch, Riyadh Air has also introduced its loyalty program, Sfeer. This program aims to enhance the travel experience with benefits such as complimentary onboard Wi-Fi, a Best Offer Guarantee, shared status-point options for families, and no expiration on points. Early adopters of the program will enjoy “Founders” status, which provides advantages like priority access to new routes.
