SalamAir Expands Connectivity with New Route from Baghdad to Copenhagen

SalamAir, the budget airline based in Oman, is set to launch flights connecting Baghdad and Copenhagen on November 14. This new service marks a significant milestone in the airline’s expansion strategy within Europe, enhancing travel options for passengers between Iraq and Denmark.

A New Route Enhances Travel Options

The newly established twice-weekly service will begin in Muscat, allowing travelers to fly directly from Baghdad to Copenhagen. A pivotal feature of this route is SalamAir’s acquisition of fifth-freedom traffic rights. This privilege permits the airline to market tickets for journeys between the Iraqi and Danish capitals, making it more convenient for passengers flying from Baghdad without necessitating a layover in Muscat. However, for those traveling from Oman, a stop in Baghdad will still be required.

Competitive Pricing for Travelers

SalamAir is committed to keeping fares affordable. One-way “Lite” tickets from Baghdad to Copenhagen will start at OMR 99.99 (approximately $260). For passengers making the trip from Muscat to Copenhagen via Baghdad, fares will begin at OMR 130.99 (around $340). This pricing strategy is designed to attract a variety of travelers, including tourists and business professionals seeking efficient and economical flight options.

Connecting Cultures and Economies

The introduction of this new air route significantly enhances Baghdad’s connectivity to Northern Europe. This development not only promotes better travel between Iraq and Denmark but also opens doors to the broader Scandinavian market. Enhanced air travel can lead to increased cultural exchanges and business opportunities, fostering closer ties between these regions.

SalamAir’s Expanding Network

Steven Allen, SalamAir’s Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted that the Copenhagen route is the airline’s ninth addition for 2026, emphasizing the company’s aggressive growth strategy. This move showcases SalamAir’s focus on entering financially viable markets that are often overlooked. By positioning Baghdad as a key hub in its evolving network, the airline is reinforcing valuable connections among Oman, Iraq, and Europe.

In addition to its new Copenhagen service, SalamAir is further enhancing its presence in Iraq with a new route to Erbil, set to launch on October 25. This will pave the way for more interconnected travel options between Iraq, Oman, and broader Asian destinations.

Overall, SalamAir’s expansion into the Iraqi and Scandinavian markets signals a promising future for regional travel, offering more efficient ways for people to connect, whether for leisure or business purposes.
