The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has made significant strides in providing humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip, contributing an impressive 781 tonnes of support. This aid comprises essential food supplies, materials for temporary housing, and nine water tankers. The delivery of these resources was carried out through four convoys, totaling 57 trucks, as reported recently.
UAE’s Aid Operations through Egypt
The logistics for this humanitarian aid are meticulously organized at the UAE Humanitarian Aid Logistics Centre located in El Arish, Egypt, from where supplies are dispatched to the Gaza Strip. The water tankers are particularly crucial as they aim to satisfy the immediate water needs of the civilian population in the affected areas. Since the commencement of the humanitarian initiative in October 2023, following renewed hostilities, the UAE has successfully sent 14,290 trucks loaded with an astounding 136,439 tonnes of essential aid.
Medical and Financial Assistance Initiatives
In addition to physical supplies, the UAE has been active in providing medical and financial support to Gaza. By August, it was reported that the Emirates had offered over 14.2 billion dirhams (approximately $3.89 billion) in assistance. This financial aid has facilitated the establishment of a floating hospital in Egypt, along with two dedicated medical centers in Gaza. Thousands of individuals, including cancer patients and those injured in the ongoing conflict, have been transported to the UAE for crucial medical treatment. Notably, the Step of Hope program, which began in June, has played an essential role in providing prosthetic limbs to Palestinians who have suffered amputations due to the war.
The Ongoing Humanitarian Crisis
The humanitarian situation in Gaza is dire, as highlighted by recent statistics. Israeli sources have cited approximately 1,200 fatalities among Israelis as a result of the Hamas-led attacks that began on October 7, 2023, with an additional 251 people reported as hostages. Conversely, the health authorities in Gaza report staggering casualties, indicating that over 73,700 Palestinians have lost their lives amid continued Israeli military operations. Although a US-backed ceasefire was implemented in October 2025, sporadic Israeli airstrikes have persisted, exacerbating the crisis.
The UAE remains committed to this humanitarian mission, continuously coordinating efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Gazan population.
