President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi recently met with Christel Heydemann, the CEO of Orange, to discuss significant advancements in Egypt’s technology and cybersecurity sectors. The meeting marked a pivotal moment as Orange announced ambitious plans to train 200,000 individuals in artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity. Additionally, the company committed €25 million towards fostering startups involved in cutting-edge technologies.
Strengthening Investments in Egypt
During their dialogue, President El-Sisi emphasized Egypt’s eagerness to enhance Orange’s investments within the country. According to the Presidency’s statement, he highlighted the tremendous growth potential that exists in Egypt’s vibrant market. This is a reflection of the government’s recent initiatives aimed at bolstering the capabilities of the youth and ensuring they are equipped with modern technological skills. El-Sisi praised Orange’s accomplishments in Egypt, particularly in telecommunications, digital transformation, and community upliftment through education.
The discussions revolved around fostering collaboration with Orange in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector, leveraging the company’s deep expertise. El-Sisi showed particular interest in extending this partnership into the second phase of the National Digital Health Project.
