Sharjah Forum Highlights Potential for Brazil

Brazilian Companies Eye Opportunities in Sharjah

The 9th Sharjah Investment Forum (SIF) brought together representatives from Brazilian businesses to discuss their experiences in the United Arab Emirates and explore investing opportunities, particularly in Sharjah. This significant event was held from March 14 to 15 and featured discussions on various subjects, including artificial intelligence, supply chain dynamics, and sustainable practices.

Growth of Bilateral Investments

A key theme at the forum was the expanding landscape of bilateral investments between Brazil and the UAE, discussed during the session titled “Beyond Trade: Unlocking the Brazil-UAE Investment Corridor.” This dialogue underscored the evolving nature of the relationship, which now encompasses more than just trade. According to the UAE’s state news agency WAM, both nations have embarked on a path toward increased investment synergy, and the possibility of establishing a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement is on the horizon.

Opportunities and Strategic Planning

Prominent figures at the forum included Ana Beatriz Fernandes, representative of InvestSP’s Middle East, North Africa, and India office; Lubna Chahine, partner at the tourism and events firm Solari Dubai; and Mariana Ricardo, founder and CEO of business consultancy WhatsNxt. These experts emphasized the importance of long-term strategic planning and cultivating meaningful relationships when pursuing business in Sharjah and the wider UAE. Ana Beatriz Fernandes pointed out that Sharjah’s strategic positioning, economic stability, robust infrastructure, and efficient logistics network make it an appealing hub for Brazilian companies looking to expand in the region.

Fernandes remarked, “I believe more Brazilian firms should establish a presence in Sharjah. Its strategic location and economic advantages make it a great base for businesses aiming to grow in the UAE.” Chahine echoed this sentiment, advising Brazilian entrepreneurs to adapt to the local business culture and invest in building strong, lasting relationships.

Mariana Ricardo added that a successful approach to investing in the UAE requires a long-term vision, bolstered by short- and medium-term objectives. “Launching a business in the UAE is merely the beginning. Companies should be prepared with a clear strategic framework that includes investments in their teams and a solid understanding of the cultural nuances of the local market,” she stated.

Conclusion

The insights shared at the SIF reflect a promising landscape for Brazilian investments in Sharjah and the broader UAE. As bilateral relations mature, both nations stand to benefit significantly from deeper economic collaboration. Brazilian enterprises are encouraged to explore these prospects, leveraging Sharjah’s unique advantages to foster growth and establish a lasting presence in the Middle East.

With careful planning and commitment to understanding the local business environment, Brazilian companies can unlock new avenues for success in this emerging market, ultimately enriching both their operations and the economic ties between the two countries.
