The respected medical publication The Lancet has unveiled a petition advocating for the suspension of the Israeli Medical Association (IMA) from the World Medical Association (WMA). The signatories accuse the IMA of failing to denounce what they describe as “the genocide of Palestinians, the destruction of health-care infrastructure, and the torture and killing of health-care workers in Gaza.” The timing of this petition is significant, as the WMA Congress is set to convene in Rotterdam this October to deliberate on the matter.
