Residence Permit Cancellation Requires Departure from Country Within 14 Days

Captain Ali Ahmed Ali al-Kuwari of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) recently provided important updates regarding residency permit cancellations and travel regulations in Qatar. As travelers prepare to leave the country, it is vital to understand the latest rules and procedures to ensure a smooth exit.

Residency Permit Cancellation and Exit Timeline

A key announcement made by Captain al-Kuwari was the new 14-day window for individuals to leave the country following the cancellation of their residency permit. Previously, this period was 30 days. The captain emphasized that staying beyond this timeframe will result in daily fines of QR10. This change was communicated during a webinar focused on safe travel practices and the necessary protocols to follow before departing from Qatar.

Travel Visa Compliance

Another crucial point discussed was the importance of careful attention to visa details. Travelers on a visit visa must ensure that they check the duration indicated on the visa sticker affixed to their passports. Captain al-Kuwari warned that staying beyond the permitted duration could result in fines of QR200 per day. He advised individuals to remain vigilant about their allowed duration of stay, as many may overlook this important detail.

To facilitate the travel process, Captain al-Kuwari recommended using the Metrash app before any travel. This application allows users to check for any pending traffic violations or overdue fines, and payments can be made electronically. It is essential for travelers to resolve any outstanding issues before heading to the airport, ensuring they have a hassle-free experience.

E-Gate Services for Quick Immigration Processing

Captain al-Kuwari highlighted the benefits of utilizing the electronic gate (e-gate) facilities at the airport, which are designed to expedite immigration procedures. The Airport Passports Department has implemented 76 e-gates at both arrivals and departures, ensuring a rapid processing time of merely 10 to 15 seconds. This initiative is aimed at minimizing wait times and enhancing the overall travel experience for citizens, residents, and visitors.

Moreover, he encouraged travelers to follow the floor markings in the airport that guide their movement through immigration. Adhering to these markings streamlines the entry process and helps avoid unnecessary delays.

Residency Permits for Newborns

In cases involving newborns, Captain al-Kuwari emphasized the necessity of reporting births to the passport office and obtaining residence permits for infants. This must be done through the appropriate channels to ensure that the newborn can re-enter Qatar without issues. The residence permit should be obtained in accordance with the father’s sponsorship after the required documents are provided by the relevant embassy.

In summary, travelers in Qatar should be keenly aware of the new regulations surrounding residency permits and travel. By adhering to the guidelines provided by Captain al-Kuwari, individuals can avoid fines and ensure an efficient travel experience. Utilizing services like Metrash and e-gates will significantly enhance the departure process and help maintain compliance with local laws, making travel smoother for everyone involved.
