Egypt’s Prime Minister Evaluates Development Plan Aiming for 5.4% Growth in 2026/2027 — TradingView News

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly recently convened with Ahmed Rostom, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, to examine the ministry’s main goals. Essential to their discussion was the economic and social development plan for the fiscal year 2026/2027, which aims for a robust 5.4% growth rate and total investments projected at EGP 3.7 trillion. This meeting emphasizes the government’s strategic approach to advancing economic stability and growth in Egypt.

Investment Priorities and Economic Growth

During the meeting, the conversation delved into macroeconomic trends and key performance indicators. Minister Rostom indicated that the private sector is anticipated to contribute nearly 59% of the planned investments. This statistic highlights the government’s commitment to bolstering private-segment participation while enhancing productive capacities in the manufacturing sector. Such efforts are vital for driving economic growth and fostering an environment conducive to business development.

National Economic Transformation Programme

Minister Rostom also presented the National Economic Transformation Programme, designed for 2027-2030. This plan is rooted in existing strategic frameworks, including the Industrial Development Strategy and the National Employment Strategy. The programme outlines crucial priorities to bolster the economy’s resilience against crises, enhance private sector involvement, and elevate business competitiveness. It aims to boost employment and productivity levels, thus leading to improved living standards for citizens across the country.

Efforts to Improve the Investment Climate

Rostom elaborated on the ministry’s initiatives to enhance the legal frameworks that govern the investment landscape, emphasizing the importance of investor protection. The government is actively promoting entrepreneurship and supporting startups, focusing on enhancing their competitiveness. These initiatives align with broader structural reforms, including the State Ownership Policy Document and the public offering initiatives aimed at fostering an environment where the private sector can thrive.

Alongside these priorities, the ministry is innovating long-term financing strategies and diversifying funding sources to ensure liquidity that can drive national projects and private investments. A significant focus is also directed at improving tax frameworks through digitalization, which will broaden the tax base and facilitate smoother business operations.

Human Capital Development

On the topic of human capital, Minister Rostom emphasized alignments between workforce skills and market needs. He mentioned a recent engagement with LinkedIn officials to leverage data in identifying in-demand skills, aiding decision-makers in workforce development. Furthermore, a collaborative meeting with ESLSCA University focused on enhancing the scientific and training partnership aimed at equipping state administrative bodies with essential leadership and management skills.

The ongoing partnership has already resulted in the provision of 1,500 scholarships, enabling young government leaders to pursue a Master of Government Business Administration. This initiative has been instrumental in attracting fresh talent into the state’s administrative landscape, enhancing overall government functionality.

In summary, the meeting highlighted the government’s commitment to developing human capabilities and managerial skills, which are pivotal for improving governmental performance and supporting institutional growth. With clear strategies in place, Egypt is working towards a more robust and resilient economy, ready to meet the challenges of the future and enhance the quality of life for its citizens.
