Systems Limited, a prominent IT firm based in Pakistan, is gearing up for significant growth in Egypt. With plans to elevate its investments by over 50% by 2027, the company is also eyeing even greater expansion in 2028. This strategic move not only underscores Egypt’s pivotal role in Systems Limited’s operations but also highlights the burgeoning opportunities within the local technology sector.
Current Investments and Future Plans
Presently, Systems Limited has invested approximately $10 million in Egypt. Ahmed Kandil, the General Manager of Systems Egypt, noted that these expansion plans are bolstered by partnerships with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, along with the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA). The collaboration aims to harness local resources to align the company’s goals with national development initiatives.
To raise its operational capacity, Systems Limited is looking to increase its current workforce of around 300 IT professionals to 450 by the end of 2027. This recruitment drive will extend into 2028, coinciding with the planned increase in investments and overall business activities within the region. The firm is also establishing centers of excellence in digital banking services for two major banks in the UAE, aiming to tap into local talent to provide specialized tech solutions.
Training and Talent Development
To facilitate its ambitious hiring plans, Systems Limited is collaborating with ITIDA to train recent graduates, ensuring they meet the firm’s technical requirements. This training regimen includes three to four months of theoretical instruction conducted by ITIDA, followed by six to eight months of practical experience within the company. Participants engage in real projects and client interactions, preparing them for active roles within the organization.
Remarkably, over 80% of the trainees transition into full-time positions within Systems Limited. Some of these newly trained professionals are anticipated to contribute to projects for a UAE bank, while others will be allocated across various initiatives as per business needs. Retaining skilled employees is crucial for the company, as the hands-on experience gained within the initial two years imbues them with the expertise required to execute sophisticated projects and services for international markets.
Services and Regional Outreach
Systems Limited offers a broad spectrum of services, including artificial intelligence, software quality assurance, mobile app and website development, alongside digital solutions tailored for multiple sectors. The firm collaborates with Egypt’s three leading telecommunications providers—Orange, Vodafone, and e&—and services nine of the nation’s largest banking institutions.
Beyond Egypt, the company’s regional activities encompass AI and data center initiatives in Sudan and provide managed services and core banking solutions in Libya. The firm also has a notable presence in various countries including Pakistan, Malaysia, and Australia, among others. By enhancing its Egyptian operations, Systems Limited aims to expand its delivery of specialized technology services across regional markets, leveraging its growing pool of locally trained professionals to fuel this ambition.
With a clear trajectory for growth and a commitment to workforce development, Systems Limited is poised to make a substantial impact within the Egyptian technology landscape while expanding its influence in regional and international markets.
