U.S. Ambassador Barrack Emphasizes Discussions with Kurdish Officials on Iraq’s Stability and Energy Partnerships

Tom Barrack, the U.S. Presidential Special Envoy for Syria and Iraq, recently visited Erbil, where he met with several key Kurdish leaders. His discussions aimed at fostering collaboration on various fronts, including energy and economic growth, while also enhancing relations between Erbil and Baghdad.

Meetings with Kurdish Leadership

During his visit, Barrack expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet with President Masoud Barzani, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, and President Nechirvan Barzani of the Kurdistan Region. He highlighted the shared commitment towards ensuring a stable, sovereign, and prosperous Iraq. In a social media post, he noted, “Grateful for today’s meetings with President Masoud Barzani, PM Masrour Barzani, and IKR President Nechirvan Barzani—united in support of a stable, sovereign and prosperous Iraq.” The discussions were centered on critical advancements in the energy sector, economic development, and the future relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government in Baghdad.
