Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched an initiative aimed at providing essential services to its citizens living abroad. This endeavor is significant for the substantial Egyptian communities scattered across various countries. The ministry has planned visits by its Civil Status Department committees to multiple diplomatic missions worldwide, focusing on the issuance and renewal of national ID cards.

Schedule for ID Card Services

According to recent announcements, the committee will be in Doha, Qatar, from October 17 to October 27, 2026. This visit will allow Egyptian citizens to address their ID-related needs effectively in one of the countries with a substantial expatriate community. The ministry has also detailed a comprehensive schedule for its visits to other nations with a considerable presence of Egyptian nationals.

The planned stops include Jordan and the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi and Dubai) from October 3 to October 13, 2026. Following that, committees will also be visiting Qatar, Lebanon, and Kuwait within the same time frame as Doha, allowing for a streamlined process for those in need of ID services. Subsequently, the teams will head to Saudi Arabia (Jeddah and Riyadh) from October 31 to November 10, 2026, and will conclude their tour in Greece and Italy from November 14 to November 24, 2026, before visiting France from November 28 to December 8, 2026.

Eligibility and Required Actions

For Egyptian citizens eager to obtain a national ID card for the first time, renew an existing one, replace a lost card, or modify personal details, it is essential to reach out to the corresponding Egyptian diplomatic or consular mission. These missions will be the primary source for information regarding necessary procedures and specific schedules tailored to serve the needs of the community during the designated timeframes.

Notably, the initiative is not restricted to residents solely in large expatriate cities. Egyptian citizens living in neighboring countries can also apply for national ID cards at diplomatic missions that host delegations from the Civil Status Authority during the specified dates. However, those interested should coordinate with the relevant diplomatic mission in advance to ensure smooth processing.

Responding to Community Needs

This initiative reflects Egypt’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of its nationals abroad by addressing their unique needs and challenges. The Ministry’s proactive approach demonstrates an understanding of the importance of maintaining vital civil documentation for expatriates, especially in countries with dense Egyptian populations. By facilitating these services abroad, the ministry aims to enhance the living experience of Egyptians overseas, ensuring they have easy access to essential identity verification.

Additionally, this program represents the collaborative efforts between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior, highlighting the importance of cooperation in serving Egyptian citizens comprehensively. With this initiative, the ministry not only strengthens its ties with expatriate communities but also reinforces the sense of belonging among those living outside Egypt.

In summary, as the world becomes increasingly globalized, maintaining access to vital services like national ID card issuance and renewal is crucial for expatriates. This initiative is a commendable step forward for the Egyptian government, ensuring that its citizens abroad are adequately supported and empowered.
