The Qatar Arc Trials, organized by the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC), showcased an impressive array of high-stakes horse racing at ParisLongchamp. Victory for Friendly Soul in Qatar Prix Vermeille
Highlighting the day’s thrilling action, the standout performance came from Friendly Soul, a five-year-old mare who claimed her second Gr.1 title by winning the Qatar Prix Vermeille over a distance of 2400 meters. Competing against a formidable field of thirteen fillies and mares, Friendly Soul’s tenacity was evident as she took an early lead and skillfully navigated the race under the expert guidance of jockey James Doyle, trained by the renowned John & Thady Gosden.
The race saw Friendly Soul set a brisk pace, with competitors hesitant to challenge her lead early on. Despite some pressure from other contenders in the later stages, she maintained her advantage and showcased her stamina and fighting spirit. Another highlight of the day was the impressive win by Erdenali in the Qatar Prix du Moulin de Longchamp, where the three-year-old gelding achieved a significant career milestone. Under the training of Francis-Henri Graffard and the expertise of jockey Mickael Barzalona, Erdenali displayed remarkable racing skills, finishing ahead of strong rivals in a fast-paced 1600-meter race.
Positioned strategically throughout, Erdenali saved energy while others set a rapid tempo up front. As the race entered its final stages, he surged forward, eventually overcoming Ten Bob Tony in a thrilling finish to win by a comfortable margin. This victory not only showcased Erdenali’s potential but also underscored the quality of talent nurtured by Aga Khan Studs, the horse’s owner and breeder.
H M Alchahine’s Dominance in Qatar Cup – Prix Dragon
The day’s events were further highlighted by the victory of H M Alchahine in the Qatar Cup – Prix Dragon, a premier race for Purebred Arabians. The six-year-old demonstrated an effortless performance, marking his sixth Gr.1 win of his career. With Cristian Demuro at the helm, H M Alchahine expertly navigated the 2000-meter distance, initially settling in a cautious position before launching a commanding run toward the finish.
Showing remarkable control and speed, H M Alchahine finished four lengths ahead of his closest competitor. This victory added another layer of prestige to the QREC’s events, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to promoting high-caliber horse racing in Qatar.
