Qatar Airways Unveils Three New Exciting Long-Distance Destinations

Qatar Airways is excited to announce the introduction of three new routes that will significantly expand its international network. Among these additions, the airline will be reintroducing connections to well-known cities like Tokyo Haneda and Helsinki, while also unveiling a unique triangular service to Caracas, Venezuela, with a stopover in Bogotá, Colombia. These developments are poised to enhance travel options for passengers looking to explore these regions.

New Routes to South America

In an ambitious move, Qatar Airways is set to launch a triangular flight route from Doha to Caracas, passing through Bogotá, starting on July 22. This new service will operate twice weekly, specifically on Wednesdays and Sundays, and is expected to enhance the airline’s footprint in South America. Although Caracas Airport will now join São Paulo as a key destination for Qatar Airways, it’s important to note that the airline currently does not offer ticket sales for the Bogotá to Caracas leg. This implies that they may lack the necessary traffic rights for this portion of the journey, restricting competition with local carriers such as Avianca or LATAM Airlines.

The flight schedule for this triangular service is meticulously structured. QR783 will depart from Doha at 7:30 AM, reaching Bogotá by 4:05 PM, where it will have a 1.5-hour stopover. It will then continue to Caracas, departing Bogotá at 5:35 PM and landing in Caracas at 8:40 PM. After a brief stay, passengers can look forward to the return journey, with the flight from Caracas scheduled to take off at 10:40 PM, arriving back in Doha at 7:55 PM the following morning. This strategic scheduling aims to provide optimal connectivity for travelers across different time zones.

Resuming Flights to Tokyo Haneda

Qatar Airways will also re-establish its service to Tokyo Haneda as of July 15, 2023, resuming operations that were previously halted earlier in the year. Initially set to operate four times a week, the frequency will increase to daily flights starting in August. These flights will be serviced by a mix of Boeing 777-200LRs and Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The scheduled flight QR812 will leave Doha at 7:50 AM and arrive in Haneda just past midnight, with the return flight departing at 1:35 AM and expected back in Doha by 6:45 AM.

By resuming service to Haneda, Qatar Airways not only enhances its connectivity to Japan but also reinforces its network through strategic partnerships with other airlines in the oneworld alliance. This allows easier access for passengers connecting to Japan Airlines flights from either Tokyo Narita or Haneda airports, enhancing travel options beyond Japan.

Returning to Helsinki After Four Years

In addition to its new offerings, Qatar Airways will restart flights to Helsinki on July 15, marking its return to the Finnish capital after a hiatus since 2022. Collaborating with fellow oneworld member Finnair, the two carriers will provide a combined schedule that includes four flights per week, escalating to daily services by August 1. The flights will operate on a shared basis between both airlines, giving passengers the flexibility of choosing between Qatar Airways and Finnair for their travel needs.

Given the competitive aviation landscape, it’s worth noting that Emirates has also announced its entry into Helsinki, launching daily service starting October 1, which could add pressure on existing routes. However, with Qatar Airways revitalizing its offerings, it aims to maintain a competitive edge by providing excellent service options for its passengers.

With these new developments, Qatar Airways continues to solidify its role as a global carrier, connecting diverse destinations while offering enhanced travel experiences. Be on the lookout for more exciting routes and services in the months to come!
