Qatar Airways Cargo is enhancing its global logistics network with the introduction of bi-weekly seasonal flights connecting Doha, Qatar, and Katowice, Poland. Utilizing Boeing 777 freighters, these new routes are set to improve freight transportation options in Central Europe.
Launch of New Cargo Routes
On July 17, Qatar Airways Cargo successfully executed its inaugural flight into Katowice Airport using the Boeing 777F. This marks a significant addition to their operational routes, with a weekly service from Doha to Katowice, as well as another layer of connectivity through a Doha-Budapest-Katowice route. According to a LinkedIn update from Katowice Airport on July 22, these operations are scheduled to continue through the end of the summer timetable, which wraps up on October 24.

This newly established route offers Polish and Central European businesses direct access to Qatar Airways Cargo’s extensive global network via its Doha hub. The Boeing 777F, known for its impressive capacity, can carry over 100 tonnes of cargo per flight, making it the largest twin-engine freighter currently in operation worldwide. This capacity enhancement is expected to significantly benefit logistics operators in the region.
Artur Tomasik, president of the management board of Górnośląskie Towarzystwo Lotnicze, described this launch as a key achievement for the cargo segment at Katowice Airport. In the first half of 2026, Katowice Airport’s cargo terminal managed 28,356 tonnes of goods, marking a notable 29% increase from the previous year, with an additional 6,402 tonnes processed. Tomasik mentioned that they anticipate reaching a record freight volume exceeding 50,000 tonnes this year. Looking ahead, the airport aims to surpass 100,000 tonnes annually by the end of the decade, underscoring its commitment to expanding freight capacities even further.

Earlier in the month, the airline partnered with MASkargo to initiate dedicated freighter operations connecting Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Bengaluru, India, and Doha, Qatar.
