A coalition of 46 members of Congress has publicly denounced the deal, concerned about its implications for American workers. Notably, U.S. Representative Maxwell Frost recently collaborated with prominent gaming influencers, including The Sims YouTuber Kayla “Lilsimsie” Sims, to raise awareness about the potential risks associated with the acquisition. Their initiative has inspired protests in Washington D.C. and other cities, mobilizing the gaming community to voice their concerns.
The Players Alliance, the group organizing these demonstrations, has also collected over 73,000 signatures on a petition urging the U.S. Treasury Secretary to intervene and block the acquisition. Members of the coalition argue that this deal may lead to increased cost-cutting measures that threaten numerous jobs, ultimately benefitting a foreign monarchy at the expense of American workers.
