The Punjab government recently launched its ‘Parwaaz Card’ initiative, marking a significant milestone by sending the first group of 135 skilled young individuals to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) for employment opportunities. This initiative is aimed at enabling youth from Punjab to secure dignified jobs abroad while showcasing Pakistan’s potential on an international platform.
Empowering Young Ambassadors
During a ceremony held to celebrate this achievement, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized the importance of these young professionals. She underscored that they would not only serve as workers abroad but also act as ambassadors for Pakistan. The chief minister expressed her commitment to providing top-notch vocational training, a vision that is being actualized through the Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) in partnership with the Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Department (SD&ED). This initiative highlights the government’s dedication to equipping the youth with the necessary skills to thrive in global markets.
A Multidimensional Approach to Skill Development
Present at the event were key figures, including Punjab Task Force on Skill Development Chairman Adnan Afzal Chattha, PSDF CEO Ahmed Khan, and various recruitment partners. During the proceedings, Chief Minister Nawaz interacted with the participants, asking them about their experiences with the Parwaaz Card scheme. She reminded them that their journey abroad represents not just themselves, but also the country that has empowered them. Her statement reflects a broader vision that includes extending vocational training opportunities across all provinces, ensuring every young person can access valuable skills development.
Targeting Employment Across Key Sectors
Adnan Chattha conveyed that the current batch of 135 candidates would cover various sectors in Saudi Arabia, including hospitality and healthcare. Specifically, this group consists of 105 individuals destined for roles in Quick Service Restaurants (QSRs) and 30 set to enter the construction industry. These placements serve as a critical step in the SD&ED’s ongoing efforts to provide Punjab’s youth with market-driven skills, thereby enhancing their chances for dignified employment within Pakistan and beyond.
Financial Support for Seamless Transitions
Notably, the Parwaaz Card program stands out by offering beneficiaries interest-free pre-departure financing, enabling young people to prepare for their overseas transitions smoothly and efficiently. The initiative has an impressive overall funding plan that targets 45,000 deserving individuals with interest-free loans totaling Rs6.867 billion. These loans, ranging from Rs300,000 to Rs1 million, are intended to cover essential upfront costs such as visa fees, airfare, medical examinations, and other travel-related expenses.
In conclusion, the Parwaaz Card initiative is more than just an employment program; it is a holistic approach to youth empowerment in Punjab. By equipping young individuals with essential skills and providing them with financial support, the Punjab government is laying the groundwork for a brighter future, allowing these young ambassadors to represent Pakistan on the international stage.
