Saudi Arabia Achieves 93% Progress on Vision 2030 as Investments Focus on Local Industries – Fast Company Middle East

Saudi Arabia is making significant strides under its Vision 2030 initiative, with 93% of the established targets achieved. HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, recently shared these accomplishments, emphasizing the Kingdom’s commitment to economic transformation and diversification.

Economic Growth and Diversification Efforts

During the third year of the ninth session of the Shura Council, the Crown Prince highlighted the remarkable growth in non-oil exports and increased participation of the private sector in the economy. The past decade has underscored the necessity of economic diversification amidst global shifts, marking a substantial shift in the Kingdom’s economic landscape. He stated, “Long-term planning does not imply rigidity; it signifies the capability to adapt to evolving circumstances.”

The resilience of Saudi Arabia’s economy has been notably strong, bolstered by substantial investments in non-oil sectors. According to reports from the Saudi Press Agency, non-oil exports have surged by 155% since 2016, while the private sector now contributes to 51% of the economy. This adaptive approach signals a transformative era in which the Kingdom is poised to create a sustainable economic future.

Investment in Domestic Industries

Looking ahead, the next phase of Vision 2030 aims to strengthen domestic industries. The Public Investment Fund is actively rolling out its five-year strategy to enhance local sectors through partnerships with the private sector, promoting local content, and delivering sustainable financial gains. Additionally, the National Development Fund aims to support various sectors through annual financing to meet strategic objectives.

One of the focal points in this evolution is technology and digital development. Saudi Arabia continues to invest in enhancing its technological capabilities across various industries and government sectors. The Crown Prince mentioned that Saudi Arabia ranks first in key international digital readiness indicators and has become a rising star in global mining investment attractiveness.

Commitment to Innovation and Global Collaboration

With a goal to position itself as a leader in artificial intelligence, the Kingdom has designated 2026 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence. This initiative highlights its ambition to leverage AI to improve productivity and elevate public services while fostering local talent through innovative initiatives. The progress made in sectors like employment, housing, education, and healthcare is testament to the reforms undertaken.

Despite global volatility in energy markets, Saudi Arabia has managed to maintain a steady supply of oil to international markets. The Crown Prince emphasized the Kingdom’s role as a linchpin for global energy security and highlighted its robust transport and logistics framework that effectively navigates disruptions in global supply chains.

In pursuing economic policies that foster national capabilities, Saudi Arabia is dedicated to enhancing promising sectors and attracting both domestic and international investment. By steering resources toward areas with the highest economic and social impact, the Kingdom is paving the way for a prosperous future that aligns with its Vision 2030 objectives.
