Turkey Film Festival Returns on September 26-27 with Reduced Price Movie Tickets

The Türkiye Cinema Festival is set to make a notable return on September 26-27, 2026, with an enticing offer of movie tickets priced at just ₺90 (approximately $1.84). This initiative aims to rekindle the interest of audiences in theaters while promoting cinema culture across the nation. With its second edition, the festival promises to deliver a unique cinematic experience that appeals to movie enthusiasts of all ages.

Festival Coverage Across Türkiye

The festival is organized by the Cinema Hall Investors Association (SISAY) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s General Directorate of Cinema, with Turkcell’s youth-centric GNC brand serving as the main sponsor. At a press event held at the historic Atlas 1948 Cinema in Istanbul, industry professionals, including producers, actors, directors, and journalists, gathered to unveil the festival’s agenda.

Birol Guven, the director general of cinema at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, announced that this year’s festival will extend its reach to 75 provinces and around 1,500 cinemas across Türkiye. Guven emphasized that visiting the cinema offers much more than just watching a film—it provides an opportunity for individuals to socialize and share artistic experiences. He expressed a call to families to embrace the festival and make it a community event, especially in a time when many young people are often engrossed in screens at home.

Hakan Askar, the Vice Chairman of SISAY, noted that 17 popular films—including box-office hits like “Odyssey”, “Spider-Man”, and “Avengers: Endgame”—will be participating in the festival. This wide selection underscores the organizers’ commitment to offering accessible and appealing content to the public.

Special Offers for Young Audiences

During this year’s festivities, GNC Marketing Director Gokhan Aksu highlighted efforts to make cultural experiences more affordable for young audiences. Aksu indicated that the festival aims to attract around 1.2 million viewers this year. Additionally, the “buy one ticket, get one free” campaign will significantly reduce the effective ticket price to just ₺45 for young moviegoers.

These promotional initiatives reflect an understanding of the current trends among younger generations, encouraging them to explore cinema as a viable form of entertainment. The collective aim is to engage the youth, inviting them to step outside their homes and satisfy their curiosity about the world of film.

The Importance of Revitalizing Cinema Culture

As the film industry faces challenges, the festival has been described as a crucial step to reinvigorate audience attendance in theaters. Cemal Okan, chairman of TAFF Pictures, expressed optimism that the festival would not only celebrate cinema but also unite various stakeholders in the industry to collaborate on attracting more viewers back into theaters.

Okan stressed that filmmaking is increasingly becoming a complex endeavor, and the initiative should help bolster morale across the industry. He noted that TAFF Pictures plans to release three films in conjunction with this festival, further contributing to the excitement surrounding cinema in Türkiye.

By engaging families, promoting special offers, and showcasing an array of films, the Türkiye Cinema Festival seeks to illuminate the silver screen once again, fostering a love for cinema that can be shared across generations. With ticket prices designed to welcome audiences back, this two-day event is well poised to create a memorable experience for all who attend.
