Türkiye’s CW Energy begins construction on a 1 GW solar panel facility in the United States.

Turkey’s CW Energy is making significant strides in the renewable energy sector by launching a groundbreaking solar panel manufacturing facility in the United States. This initiative marks a pivotal moment for the company as it aims for a production capacity of 1 gigawatt (GW) annually. With this new venture, CW Energy reinforces its commitment to expand its global footprint and contribute to sustainable energy solutions.

Plans for the Solar Panel Facility

CW Energy’s decision to assess the feasibility of establishing a solar panel production plant in the U.S. is a strategic move aimed at tapping into the growing demand for renewable energy. According to a recent company announcement, the project will be executed through its wholly owned subsidiary, CW Energy USA Inc. The focus will shift towards identifying a suitable location, exploring investment incentives, reviewing financing options, and determining the technical and operational requirements necessary for the plant’s establishment.

The company is also gearing up to navigate the permitting process that will pave the way for this ambitious project. Although specific details regarding the plant’s location and investment amount are yet to be revealed, CW Energy has assured stakeholders that any significant updates will be communicated in accordance with relevant market regulations.

Competition and Industry Landscape

This initiative positions CW Energy among other Turkish solar manufacturers expanding their operations in the U.S. market. Notably, Elin Energy commenced its production in Texas in 2024 with a similar capacity of 1 GW. As the renewable energy sector continues to evolve, CW Energy’s entry into the U.S. market signifies a growing trend of international collaboration in solar technology.

In the first half of 2026, CW Energy reported an impressive total photovoltaic solar panel production capacity of 1.8 GW in Turkey, alongside a solar cell production capacity of 1.2 GW. The company has also established an aluminum frame production facility, enabling it to manufacture components needed for its solar panels while bolstering its export capabilities, particularly to the U.S. market.

Recent Performance Highlights

CW Energy’s financial performance has been robust, as indicated by recent sales figures. The company generated net sales of ₺9.1 billion (approximately $187.7 million) in the first half of 2026, marking a 19% increase compared to ₺7.7 billion in the prior year. Furthermore, its net profit surged by 89.5%, rising to ₺1.3 billion from ₺681 million. Interestingly, international sales represented ₺769.6 million, which constitutes 8.4% of total sales, showcasing a substantial 332.2% increase from the previous year.

The planned 1 GW facility is poised to complement the existing solar panel manufacturing capacity in the U.S., which currently stands at 70.1 GW, according to data from SEIA and Enerdata. As CW Energy takes these steps to enhance its global production capabilities, it demonstrates a proactive approach to meeting the increasing global demand for solar energy solutions.

In summary, CW Energy’s venture into the U.S. solar panel manufacturing market signifies its dedication to sustainability and growth. With plans for a substantial production facility, the company is set to make a noteworthy impact in the renewable energy landscape, further solidifying its status as a leader in the solar panel industry. This strategic move not only benefits CW Energy but also contributes positively to the broader goal of advancing solar technology and promoting energy efficiency worldwide.
