Amazon Web Services (AWS) recently announced challenges in recovering data from its cloud operations in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates due to damage caused by military conflicts. A subsequent drone strike near one of its Bahrain facilities resulted in physical damage to the infrastructure. Following these incidents, many customers preemptively moved their data to other locations, which later became crucial as the situation in the Bahrain region turned critical due to additional disruptions in April.

Challenges in Cloud Operations

Despite exhausting all avenues for restoring un-migrated data in Bahrain, AWS confirmed that it would be unable to recover what was lost. In the UAE, AWS stated that it is in the process of replacing the damaged infrastructure, with plans to deliver a further update in the coming months.
