Following the conclusion of the collegiate spring soccer season in late April, a specialized contractor began the transformation of the pitch. The process involved re-leveling the existing surface, laying down a new sand base, and rolling out thick rolls of sod. “It was almost instantly a new field. The sod was thick enough that you could practically play a match the next day,” Kavon noted.
This specialized sod, sourced from Moses Lake, is the same type used in venues hosting World Cup events, providing a consistent playing surface for athletes at all levels.
