A 44-year-old man from northern Israel faced arrest on Tuesday in central Israel after authorities discovered he possessed over 20 kilograms of a substance suspected to be cannabis, according to the Israel Police.
Discovery of Large Cannabis Stash
In a well-coordinated early morning raid, law enforcement officials searched the suspect’s apartment and found not only the 20 kilograms of suspected cannabis but also more than 500 grams of what is believed to be cannabis oil, along with various items like an electronic scale, multiple cell phones, and even a scooter. Authorities are investigating whether these items were intended for storing and distributing illegal drugs from the residence.

On the same day, another arrest was made in Petah Tikva. A 20-something local was taken into custody for allegedly having over 40 kilograms of different narcotics, including cocaine, MDMA, and ecstasy. This suspect’s apartment is also believed to be a central operation point for drug preparation and distribution. These incidents highlight an ongoing issue with drug trafficking in Israel.
International Drug Smuggling Concerns
In a related incident, police forces operating in the West Bank collaborated with Palestinian officers to apprehend a 48-year-old Israeli man in Bethlehem. This individual was caught with a staggering number of pills, including over 17,000 Tramadol and more than 170,000 Captagon tablets, hinting at the broader concern of international drug smuggling in the region.

Further investigations led to another raid in Moshav Ahisamakh, located in the Jerusalem area. Police seized a vehicle that contained substantial quantities of illegal drugs, including cocaine, MDMA, ecstasy, and ketamine, with an estimated street value of 90 million shekels.
