Israeli military operations in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of at least seven Palestinians, as reported by local medical officials. Recent Attacks and Casualties
Three Palestinians lost their lives and several others sustained injuries during a strike targeting a residence in Beit Lahiya, close to Kamal Adwan Hospital, on Tuesday. Reports from al-Shifa Hospital indicate that this was not an isolated incident. Earlier in the day, a drone strike in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis killed one man and injured three others, further exacerbating the already critical humanitarian situation.
Additionally, three other individuals succumbed to injuries from past Israeli raids in Khan Younis, according to Al Jazeera Arabic correspondent Nour Khaled. Among these, two died as a result of an assault on the previous Monday, while another had been recovering from injuries sustained weeks earlier. These events illustrate a tragic cycle of violence, leading to unnecessary loss of life.
Destruction of Humanitarian Supplies
In a significant blow to humanitarian efforts, an Israeli strike overnight destroyed a warehouse that was crucial for storing nutritional supplies aimed at children, pregnant women, and nursing mothers. Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) reported that the explosion resulted in severe structural damage, collapsing the building’s roof and walls, which buried essential supplies under debris. Such acts compromise not only immediate aid efforts but also the long-term well-being of vulnerable populations.
The warehouse, run by Ard El Insan (AEI), had been working alongside MAP to support approximately 60 medical points that collectively serve around 100 women and children daily. The loss of these supplies comes at a time when the need for humanitarian assistance has never been more critical. Sahar Salem, AEI’s project coordinator, emphasized that losing these resources severely impacts their outreach capabilities, especially for those in desperate need.
Ongoing Humanitarian Crisis
The head of Gaza’s Ministry of Health has issued warnings about an imminent collapse of essential life-sustaining supplies, citing a severe shortage of oxygen in medical facilities. Dr. Munir al-Bursh highlighted that only a fraction of available oxygen stations—12 out of approximately 34—remain operational, and any further breakdown could have catastrophic consequences for patients relying on oxygen for survival.
Al-Bursh condemned the ongoing military attacks, stating that they violate the supposed ceasefire that is often cited by external parties but absent in the day-to-day struggle of people in Gaza. He concerns that the current conditions may force healthcare workers into impossible decisions regarding patient care, risking more lives in an already tragic scenario.
Despite international calls for de-escalation, including statements from US authorities urging Israel to halt its operations, violence continues unabated.
