Legendary Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe weekend begins at Saint-Cloud.

The excitement of the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe weekend kicks off today at the renowned Saint-Cloud Racecourse, featuring two premier Group 1 Purebred Arabian races sponsored by the Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club (QREC). These events promise to spotlight some of Europe’s most promising classic contenders, all competing under a breathtaking atmosphere.

Key Highlights of the Upcoming Races

The twin highlights of today’s racing card are the Gr.1 PA Qatar Arabian Trophy des Poulains for colts and the Gr.1 PA Qatar Arabian Trophy des Pouliches for fillies, each contested over a challenging 2000 metres. The colts will take the spotlight first at 3:18 PM (Qatar time), followed by the fillies’ race at 4:28 PM (Qatar time). Fans can catch all the action live on Al Kass TV, along with real-time updates on QREC’s social media platforms.

Following the thrilling 2025 renewal, where Qatari participants claimed victory in both divisions, there’s ample anticipation for today’s races. In that memorable event, Laffan, a homebred from Al Wasmiyah Racing trained by François Rohaut, triumphed in the collard race with an exceptional ride by Maxime Guyon. In the fillies’ category, Rohaut scored another victory with Subahiyah, also from Al Shaqab Racing, led by the skilled Christophe Soumillon. All three podium finishers were from Al Shaqab Racing, creating a spectacular one-two-three finish.

Colts Competing in the Salmon-Rich Poulains

The Poulains race features an impressive lineup of nine colts, showcasing high-caliber talent. Trainer Thomas Fourcy sends a formidable trio into the fray. Msaieed will lead the charge for Al Shaqab Racing, with Jean-Bernard Eyquem in the saddle. Zahim is also being prepared by Fourcy for HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani and will be ridden by Ioritz Mendizabal. Completing this powerful lineup is Madison Boy, trained by Haras Du Grand Courgeon, with Alexis Pouchin aboard.

Rohaut, known for his strong record in Purebred Arabian competitions, presents two potent contenders—Neuf De Faust for Sheikh Saad Al Mukhaini Bahwan, ridden by Christophe Soumillon, and Almoshahar for Al Wasmiyah Racing, handled by Pierre-Charles Boudot.

Another important participant is trainer Xavier Thomas-Demeaulte, who fields a compelling trio, including Kambell De Ghazal for Helal Alalawi, partnered with Cristian Demuro, and Jouhari Grine, ridden by Marvin Grandin for owner Hamed Khadim Butti Alhamid.

Fillies Ready to Shine in the Pouliches

The 2000-metre race for fillies has drawn a competitive field of 13. Trainer Xavier Thomas-Demeaulte is sending an impressive six-runner squad into this event. His primary contenders include Balsam from Al Shaqab Racing, with Pierre-Charles Boudot riding, and Alkaydah, who will be ridden by Maxime Guyon.

Other noteworthy entries include two fillies trained by François Rohaut: Mneera, representing Al Shaqab Racing, and Almaha for Sahaab Stables Slu. Jean-Francois Bernard rounds out the competition with Lella De La Gloire and Netra De Faust, both of whom carry the colors of reputable owners.

In addition, David Morisson fields SS Lora, illustrated by the enthusiasm around these fillies, making this classic event one to watch.

Exciting Developments at the Arqana Sale

The Arqana Purebred Arabian Horse Sale took place yesterday, adding an air of exhilaration to the weekend’s festivities. This event gathered a prestigious assembly from around the globe alongside an official QREC delegation. The sale showcased a rich catalogue of 89 lots, featuring two-year-olds, yearlings, and horses in training.

The auction, held in conjunction with Qatar’s prominent sponsorship of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, reflects QREC’s commitment to promoting Purebred Arabian racing on the world stage. An energized commercial environment fueled strong demand, achieving a noteworthy clearance rate across divisions.

As the races unfold today, all eyes will be on the stellar performances, highlighting Qatar’s dedication to equestrian excellence and supporting Purebred Arabian talent.
