A prominent Qatari business delegation has recently embarked on a visit to southern France. This initiative, spearheaded by Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, Chairman of Qatar Chamber (QC), and Sheikh Hamad bin Faisal Al Thani, Board Member of the Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA), also featured the participation of H E Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al Thani, Ambassador of Qatar to France. The mission aimed to fortify economic ties and explore investment opportunities between the two nations.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
The visit was organized in collaboration with the Qatar-French Economic Association (CADRAN) and focused on enhancing bilateral relations and expanding avenues for investment. The delegation included Dr. Khalid bin Klefeekh Al Hajri from the Qatar Chamber, underscoring the importance of high-level representation. Meetings with key stakeholders aimed to foster direct connections between Qatari businesses and their French counterparts, paving the way for joint projects in sectors like technology, tourism, and real estate.
During their time in France, the delegation interacted with Bernard Kleynhoff, President of risingSUD, the regional economic development agency. These discussions revolved around the investment atmosphere and opportunities for collaboration between Qatari firms and local French businesses. The engagement with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur further reinforced the commitment to nurture economic partnerships.
Joint Business Forum Highlights
A highlight of the visit was the joint business forum held at the Carlton Hotel in Cannes. This event allowed Qatari and French business leaders to come together, share insights, and explore potential partnerships. The interactions provided a platform for discussing investment opportunities across various sectors and gaining a deeper understanding of the local market landscape.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani expressed his enthusiasm for the budding economic ties, noting the shared commitment to strengthening trade relations and adding value to both economies. He praised CADRAN for its critical role in facilitating dialogue and enhancing collaboration opportunities that align with the sustainable development goals of both nations.
Exploring Future Opportunities
Ambassador Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al Thani emphasized the significance of engaging with representatives from both the public and private sectors in France. The insights gathered during this visit are invaluable in broadening economic relations and establishing a platform for long-term partnerships. Highlighting the historical ties between Qatar and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, he pointed out opportunities not only in luxury hospitality and real estate but also in emerging areas such as aviation, finance, digital technology, and artificial intelligence.
To maximize the potential of these discussions, Sheikh Ali advocated for reciprocal visits, suggesting that a business delegation from the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region should consider a visit to Qatar. Direct interactions serve as a foundation for trust and can lead to the identification of significant joint economic projects. This kind of ongoing engagement is essential for developing sustainable business relationships that benefit both regions in the long run.
By pursuing these avenues and fostering a strong dialogue, Qatar and southern France can cultivate a robust partnership that capitalizes on their mutual strengths.
