Saudi Arabia’s Abdulhamid to attend training camp in the USA following passport theft setback.

Saudi Arabia’s defender Saud Abdulhamid is set to join the national team in the United States for a training camp after overcoming a passport issue that had previously delayed his travel plans.

Passport Issues Resolved

The 26-year-old was initially scheduled to report to a preparatory camp in Riyadh on Monday, before traveling with the national squad. However, a burglary incident in Amsterdam led to the theft of his passport while he was attending his wedding ceremony with family. Fortunately, local authorities assisted Abdulhamid in securing a replacement, allowing him to clear this significant hurdle.

Joining the National Team

Having resolved his passport situation, Abdulhamid is now preparing to link up with the 30-man preliminary squad coached by Georgios Donis in New York. Currently on loan at Ligue 1 side Lens from Roma, the defender has expressed his gratitude to the Saudi authorities for their timely support. In a social media post on X, he stated, “Let’s go to the World Cup,” reflecting his excitement for the upcoming tournament.

Training Camp in the U.S.

Saudi Arabia’s national team has embarked on a focused training regimen in various locations across the U.S., including New York and Texas. This preparatory phase includes several friendly matches against teams such as Ecuador, Puerto Rico, and Senegal. These fixtures are essential for the players to refine their skills and strategies ahead of their competitive matches in the World Cup.

Upcoming Matches and World Cup Preparations

The team is gearing up for their World Cup Group H opener against Uruguay on June 15 in Miami. Following that, they will face Spain in Atlanta on June 21 and Cape Verde in Houston on June 26. These matches will be critical as Saudi Arabia aims to make a significant impact in the tournament, and with Abdulhamid back in the fold, their defensive unit is poised for a stronger performance on the world stage. With all these preparations underway, the excitement for the World Cup continues to build, and hopes are high for a successful campaign.
