Serdar Kılıç, Türkiye’s special envoy for normalizing relations with Armenia, celebrated the recent inauguration of the Akhalkalaki-Kars railway line, which is now open for Armenia’s imports and exports. In a statement shared via social media, Kılıç emphasized the importance of this railway line for the economic exchange between Türkiye and Armenia. The announcement came after Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan confirmed that the railway is now operational for international trade. “This new development is expected to bolster collaboration among Türkiye, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, paving the way for enhanced regional peace and stability,” Kılıç remarked. Prime Minister Pashinyan recognized the new railway access as a critical advancement for Armenia’s economy. He expressed gratitude toward Türkiye and Georgia for their partnership. The newly established railway route not only facilitates trade with Türkiye but also connects Armenia to Russia through Georgia and Azerbaijan, and to China via Russia and Kazakhstan. During a visit to Yerevan by Türkiye’s Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, a collaborative agreement was signed for the restoration of the historic Ani Bridge at the border.
