UAE Chambers’ Journey to Belgium Seeks New Trade Prospects

The recent trade mission to Belgium, guided by His Excellency Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Vice Chairman of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), successfully brought together key representatives from various UAE chambers of commerce and the Emirati business sector. This mission serves as an essential initiative to foster new cooperation avenues between the private sectors of the UAE and Belgium.

Objectives of the Trade Mission

The primary goal of the mission was to explore and enhance business partnerships between the UAE and Belgium. It aligns with the UAE Chambers’ ongoing efforts to extend the outreach of the Emirati business community on a global scale, facilitating new international relationships and strategic partnerships. By establishing direct communication channels with Belgian corporations and investors, the trade mission aims to open new doors for collaboration and investment.

To kick off the mission, the delegation visited the Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce (ABLCC). Here, the representatives engaged with chamber officials and local business leaders to identify potential opportunities for economic growth, trade, and investment. These discussions were centered around exploring business interests and opportunities that could benefit both UAE and Belgian companies, focusing on sectors where mutual benefits could be achieved.

Enhancing Economic Relations

The talks also emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between entrepreneurs and investors from both countries. The aim was to facilitate an informed exchange concerning trade and investment prospects, encouraging companies to develop joint ventures and partnerships. This collaborative approach plays a critical role in cultivating bilateral economic relations, an essential aspect of both nations’ economic strategies.

An important milestone of the mission was the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Belgian Chambers at the UAE Embassy in Brussels. This agreement seeks to bolster institutional cooperation and deepen engagement between Emirati and Belgian businesses. It establishes a framework to promote joint business delegations, economic events, and direct business interactions, thereby benefiting the trading interests of both nations significantly.

Insightful Visits and Future Opportunities

His Excellency Abdallah Sultan Al Owais highlighted that the trade mission to Belgium represents a significant opportunity for expanding economic cooperation. He underlined the crucial role of chambers of commerce in connecting communities and transforming available opportunities into sustainable trade partnerships. This vision underpins the overall strategy for enhancing trade relations between the two countries.

On the second day of the mission, the delegation undertook a field visit to the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, offering valuable insights into its operational framework, infrastructure, and logistics services. This visit focused on identifying best practices in port management, supply chain operations, and the efficient handling of exports and imports. The aim was to boost expertise sharing and explore new collaborative opportunities in transport, trade, and logistics—all vital for enhancing international trade flows.

As the conclusion of the mission approaches, both UAE and Belgian representatives are enthusiastic about the potential for future business opportunities. Both countries are poised to benefit from the partnerships and agreements established during this mission, setting the stage for enhanced economic collaboration and mutual growth.
