Financial Secretary’s Upcoming Visit to Qatar

The Financial Secretary of Hong Kong, Mr. Paul Chan, is scheduled to travel to Qatar late this evening, September 26, to partake in the 11th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Doha. This significant event will focus on pressing issues surrounding infrastructure development in Asia and beyond.

Focus Areas at the AIIB Meeting

This year’s AIIB Annual Meeting is themed “Tomorrow’s Infrastructure: Impact and Innovation”. It aims to convene government officials, leaders from multilateral development institutions, and business executives to engage in meaningful discussions surrounding sustainable infrastructure, cross-border connectivity, green finance, and technological advancements in digital transformation. Attendees will also explore the AIIB’s strategic framework and its future initiatives, which are integral to the region’s infrastructure growth.

Mr. Chan’s Responsibilities During the Meeting

Mr. Chan will actively participate in various meetings during the event, which will include the official gathering of the Board of Governors.
